Baby Shower Party Favors In Cupcake Designs!

Our daughter Jenelle is expecting our first grandchild (a girl) in May 2009 so I am hosting and planning a big baby shower for her. Our new grandbaby will be named Gianna Nadine.

I am determined to make 200+ baby shower favors and I decided to make a variety of favors for the party. (I get bored easily if I had to make 200+ of the same item).

I purchased the 3-D Cupcake Template for $5.99 and decided to make the Delicous version of the cupcake. The template has 2 different patterns for cupcake favor boxes, one named YUMMY and one named DELICOUS. I found the template to be very easy to use. My advice though: Use a piece of scrap paper (paper you don't care about) to make your first one until you get the hang of it, in other words, a practice one!)

I decided to use some of my scrapbooking papers and scraps to make the cupcake boxes with most having the pink color in them. Below is 2 pictures of some of the 75+ cupcake boxes I have made so far. Instead of using the pattern for a cherry or flower top, I decided to just glue on pink or red 1/2" pompoms for my cherries. Inside my cupcake favor boxes, I have been placing wrapped Baby Shower Mints, Chocolate Candies and some baby themed confetti.





I also decided to make up some baby girl themed bookmarks for the shower favors using plain white cardstock for the base measuring 1 1/2" wide by 7" long. I then cut from scrapbooking paper a piece measuring 3 1/4" wide by 7" long. I wrapped the cardstock bookmark with the scrapbooking paper and glued with a glue stick. I used my hole punch to punch a hole at the top and then used pretty pink and purple eyelash yarn to make the tassles. I was able to find some baby girl stickers with clear boarders at my local store and I have been using them to decorate the bookmarks. I also handstamped some baby words onto the front of the bookmarks such as *baby* *Special Delivery* *Nap Time* *Proud Parents* and so forth. They are very simple to make and you can use up a lot of your paper scraps to make them. You can change the theme to make them as birthday party favors and so forth.



I will post next week some other baby shower favors that I am making for the baby shower too. Most are easy and inexpensive to make.

More Cross Stitch!

As promised, here are a few more photo's of some projects that I recently completed. If you are interested in more details or prices, just let me know as I also do custom work and can provide you with a list of referrences.

The below Angel was stitched on 14 ct. white Aida using DMC floss. Once she is framed and matted she will measure 8x10 inches. She turned out really nicely and I am sure Carol will enjoy her. I call this one the *Gaurdian Angel* and her dress can be done in a variety of colors.

The next item is a set of white pillowcases in a standard size. This set would make an excellent gift for a new couple or bridal shower. They are floral his and her pillowcases and were made using DMC floss.


Finally is an item that I cross stitched onto 16 ct. white AIDA using DMC floss. Once matted and framed, it will measure 8x10 inches in size. It has a beautiful lighthouse with rolling ocean waves and a sailboat. A great reminder of a perfect beautiful day at the beach.

My Recent Cross Stitch Projects

Since being sick for the past 7 months or so, I have had a lot of time to work on some cross stitching and embroidery projects.

The piece below is from a stamped iron-on pattern of roses which I cross stitched and will be turning it into a ruffled throw pillow for my mother.

The next item I did was back in November which is a set of pillowcases done in cross stitch and embroidery from a Bucilla (tm) kit featuring lilacs and butterflies.

I did the below set of cross stitch pillowcases back in December 2008. They are made from a Bucilla (tm) craft kit. A friend of mine paid me to make the hummingbird pillowcases for her and they came out fantastic if I say so myself.

As you can see, I have been keeping busy. In a few days I will post more photo's of some craft projects I completed the past few months.
