Making Foam Refrigerator Magnets

My 2 nephews were down again over the weekend to visit with me, their favorite auntie!

When they come, we always do some type of crafting project or we make something in the kitchen, usually its both!

I keep a laundrey basket full of my left over crafting supplies and scraps, the boys love to get in there and be creative!

This time around, they wanted to make some more foam magnets for their refrigerator at home....luckily for me, I am stocked up on foam sheets!

You can get cheap or free patterns just about any where. Coloring books are a great source! Just find a picture you like, and cut it out and then trace around it on the foam sheet. The simplier the pattern, the easier it is for kids.

We made several of them while they were here as shown in the pictures!

More Cross Stitch Projects Completed!

I recently completed more cross stitch projects! I would say that cross stitching is my second favorite craft medium with scrapbooking being my ultimate love.

The photo above shows an embroidered design (preprinted pattern) dresser scarf made from a Bucilla Needlecraft Kit. Its stitched onto white fabric using DMC floss and features Praying Hands and Flowers. I made this as a gift for my MIL and her birthday is later this month.

Above is a set of white pillowcases with a scalloped edge hem that I did up in cross stitch that have pretty pink rose buds. I used DMC floss for all of the stitching. This set only took me 4 days to complete so it was fast and easy.

Been Busy Making More Crafts!

I just love to craft, all kinds of crafts! Here is what I have recently been doing:

I just completed a set of 2 Bird House Themed Finger Tip Towels! I love to watch birds so I enjoyed making these! They were made on woven white cotton finger tip towels with a scalloped edge and done in cross stitch (preprinted pattern). I believe it was a Bucilla (tm) kit but not positive on that. I used DMC thread.

I recently completed this pretty dresser scarf featuring pink cabbage roses. Its rectangular in shape with flat edges and stitched onto white cotton using DMC Embroidery Floss.

Finally, is a completed set of white standard size pillowcases that I stitched up for a customer. I used DMC Floss and it features little pink and lilac flowers. The pillowcases are elegant with their scalloped edges. I need to make 2 more sets for others who requested them next!

Jens Baby Shower Diaper Cake!!!

We ordered a Care Bears Theme Diaper Cake for our daughters upcoming Baby Shower in April.

Our daughter did the babies nursery in pinks and lavenders and in a care bear theme so I asked Lyndsey to do a customer baby shower diaper cake for us and she did a fabulous job!!!! Everyone who saw this baby girl themed diaper cake remarked at how beautiful it was.

On top of the diaper cake being beautiful...they are a very practical baby shower gift. Once the party is over...the mom-to-be can tear it apart and use all of the diapers, shampoo, baby body wash, rattles, teething rings, pacifiers, etc. with her new baby! Beautiful and Practical!

Baby shower diaper cakes are typically not cheap! The ones I priced were $65 and up with most being around $80.00. With that said...do a search online and you can find hundreds of free baby diaper cake tutorials online along with how-to videos so you can make your own which is much cheaper to do!

7 Months Along...And Counting....

Well, I was finally able to get new pictures of our daughter J and her growing belly yesterday.

She is now 7 months along and is carrying our grand daughter Gianna Nadine. She is due in May 2009. I think she is just glowing!

She is getting the 3-D ultrasound done in 2 weeks, can't wait to see what our precious grand daughter looks like! The nursery's are almost done now. Jen did the nursery at her house is light lavendar and pink and in a carebears theme. The nursery at our house is in ocean tones and in a cottage beach theme as I just love the beach!

I love to rub my daughters belly and talk to Gianna. I know that its silly but I want her to get used to my voice now. I can't wait to read her a slew of bedtime stories!

So far the pregnancy has been pretty easy. She is experiencing some swelling and achiness in her legs and ankles now and has put on 18 lbs so far.

I will update you all again in 2 weeks on how her pregnancy is going!

In the Snowman Crafting Mood....

I live in South Central PA...we just got hit with a East Coast Snow Storm...ick! Well anyway, I do have a love for snowmen! Two weeks ago I found this vintage snowman kit over on ebay and just had to have it. I finally had time this past weekend to sit down and sew. I think he turned out awesome!

He is a shelf sitter and measures about 18" long and is made from batting and stuffed with fiberfill. His legs are a knit material (like a sweater knit) and just attached to the body and knotted. Gotta love that red festive knit scarf he is sporting too.

For his nose...I decided to make my own from sculpey modeling clay and made a carrot shaped nose and glued it on. His eyes are simple black beads. I can't wait to decorate with him next Holiday Season. I think he might look fantastic hanging on mantle shelf.
