Blog Contest! Enter For A Chance To Win A $50 Gift Certificate!

If you have children or grandchildren, I think you will appreciate this blog and the products and articles/posts that they make. I have been reading the Precious Kids blog for several weeks now and I always learn something new.

It has been a long time since I had little ones around...but now that I am a grandmother to a precious 5 month old baby girl...I am refreshing and learning about all of the new products and stuff.

We all need to protect our children and grandchildren and My Precious Kid has some great products for that. They also have baby sign language items which is something I am interested in.

While you are there entering the contest, I encourage you to browse around the entire site.

Amish Style Apple Pancakes Recipe

Living here in Pennsylvania, we often come in contact with local Amish or Pennsylvania Dutch people. About 25 years ago, this recipe was given to me by a local woman. To this day, this is one of our favorite pancake recipes, especially during the fall cooler months of the year.

Amish Apple Pancakes Recipe

2 apples, peeled, cored, and sliced
1 cups all-purpose flour
1 cup milk
6 eggs
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
1/4 teaspoon table salt
1/4 teaspoon ground nutmeg
2 tablespoons butter or margarine (we use butter)

In mixer or blender, beat flour, milk, eggs, vanilla, salt, and nutmeg; set aside. Heat oven to 475 degrees. In cast iron skillet for 5 minutes, add 2 tablespoons butter; melt. Add sliced apples and fry 2 to 3 minutes. Pour mixture over apples. Bake at 475 degrees for 15 minutes. Reduce heat to 425 degrees for 8 to 10 minutes. Sprinkle with powdered sugar. Cut in wedges.

Boo! Happy Halloween Primitive Pillow

Halloween is fast approaching and I decided to stitch up a primitive Halloween theme'd pillow. I can't remember where I got this pattern at but I stitched it up on tea-dyed muslin and then framed it with hunter green homespun fabric and a hunter green homespun backing. I filled it a hypo-allergenic pillow to make it allergen free. It only took me 2 days to make (one day to do the handstitching and the second day for the machine sewing).

I think it turned out boo-tiful :)
