Remodeling The Master Bathroom

I have been on a mission the past few months to remodel and redecorate our Master Bathroom into a seaside santuary for myself and my hubby. We both enjoy the beach along with bubble baths. It's our unwind together time after a long and busy day.

(above) Photo 1: I finally found the perfect shower curtain a few months ago up at Kmart. I had to search for weeks for just the perfect one and finally found it there. Along with the shower curtain, I purchased matching seashell shower curtain hooks/rings. We also purchased the matching seashell themed wall boarder and put that up around the bathroom walls. We also decided to go with one of those brushed nickel bowed out shower bars...its not a straight across shower bar (curtain hanger thingy) LOL it hows out into an arc shape so that we have more room in the shower ;-)

The next photo shows my new wall peg shelf. I wanted a heavy duty wooden peg shelf that we could use to hang our towels and robes on in the bathroom. I finally found one down at the Jersey Shore back in September and purchased it. It fits perfectly with my neutral themed beach and seashell themed bathroom.



This picture shows the beautiful wall mural we put up on the biggest bare wall of the bathroom. It starts at the bottom (near floor) and goes up about 1 1/2 feet tall. It was really easy to apply...you just rub it on and it looks handpainted! It is not a sticker type of thing...a high quality wall mural that we purchased from Tatouge (spelling) and we just love it! It took us about an hour to apply.



As we work on the finishing touches of the bathroom, I will get more photos. I am really happy at how well this bathroom is coming together.

Crafting up some faux food and other goodies...

I am really excited for the holidays this year...this will be the first Christmas for Baby G (our grand daughter) so the excitement is getting the best of me. So much to do and so little time to get it done!

Anyway...several weeks ago a friend of mine asked me if I could create some faux food for her. Why you might ask? Because she purchased a kitchen playset for her little girls for Christmas this year and didn't want plastic or wooden junk faux foods to give with it.

She knows that I am a big time crafter and asked me to create some items for her. Well, for the past few weeks, I have been busy doing just that! Besides, now that people are seeing the items, they are also ordering them from me :)

It will take me a few weeks to get the patterns on the blog, but I will be starting that process on December 2, 2009. Here are a few photo's of some of the items I have created for her so far.

Doughnuts, Dessert Tart, Sugar Cookies and Tea Bags (all made from felt). There is machine and hand stitching involved and I hand sew on all of the beads.

These are some cupcakes I crocheted for her. One is a red velvet cupcake with vanilla frosting and sprinkles and the other one is a chocolate cupcake with strawberry frosting and sprinkles.

Here are some chocolate sandwich cookies that I crocheted for her. The pattern for these will be uploaded to my other blog on December 2nd, 2009.

Here is a picture of a felt lollipop. This one has a string on it as I made a few into tree ornaments...but the ones I am making for the faux food playsets are minus a hanging string :)

Here is a photo of the fried breakfast eggs I made out of felt. These are completely hand stitched.

Country Snowman Handstitched Holiday Pillow

I can't remember where I purchased this pattern...but I just think its too cute since I enjoy decorating my home during the holidays in a snowman theme.

I traced the pattern onto tea-dyed muslin and then handstitched the design using DMC embroidery floss. I used waxed crayons to add accent colors to the design (to make it more colorful) and then heat set it using my iron.

I framed the front of the pillow with 2" wide navy blue plaid homespun fabric and the backing is a solid piece of navy blue plaid homespun fabric. Inside the pillow is polyfill which makes it machine washable. The pillow is a nice size, approximately 14" and looks adoreable.

I will be giving this pillow as a holiday gift this year to a family member.

Primitive Raggedy Anne Pillows, Way Too Cute!

I just love making homemade primitive home decor items for myself, family and friends. Recently, I purchase a few primitive patterns from Primitive Stitches and made both of them into pillows.

The first one called "Ole Raggedies" measures approximately 14 x 14" square and is backed with homespun fabric.

The second one is of Raggedy Ann and Andy and is smaller and is in a rectangular shape and is backed with homespun fabric. With this one, I put on a 2" navy blue plaid homespun border to add some color to it. Both of them are machine washable.

I think they are totally adoreable!

Kids Craft - Snowman Stick Ornaments

Craft Project - How To Make A Homemade Snowman Ornament

Many years ago when our daughter was a little girl, every holiday season we looked forward to making homemade ornaments for our holiday packages. Over the years, our gift recipients looked forward to seeing what we would come up with for their package embellishment.

This snowman ornament is easy to do and only takes a few basic crafting supplies. I believe that its suited for children age 5 years and up, with adult supervision.

Supplies Needed:

tongue depressor sticks or popsicle sticks
basic white all-purpose craft glue (the kind that dries clear)
piece of string or yarn measuring 4" long
piece of cotton fabric measuring 1/4" by 4 1/2" long (scarf)
acrylic paints: white, orange and black
paint brush
toothpicks
scrap piece of black craft foam or felt
newspaper (used to cover your work surface)

Step 1: Lay tongue depressor sticks on the newspaper and have your child paint them white, letting each side dry for 15 minutes before flipping it over to paint the reverse side.

Step 2: Paint 1/4 of the top of the stick black with acrylic paint and let dry. This black area will become the top hat.

Step 3. Using a piece of black felt or black craft foam, cut out a piece that measures 1/8" of an inch by 1 1/2" in length. Glue this piece to the stick to form the brim of the top hat. Let dry.

Note: If you are using a popsicle stick, you will need a smaller piece of black foam that measures 1/8" by 1" in length.

Step 4. Dip the end of the paint brush into black paint and use it to dot on 2 snowman eyes and then 3 round dots further down on your stick to represent 3 coal buttons.

Step 5. Using orange paint, have your child paint on a triangular shaped nose (under the 2 eyes).

Step 6. Dip one end of a toothpick into black paint. Dab on 5 little dots under the orange carrot nose to represent a mouth. Let your snowman completely dry.

Step 7. Once project is dry, flip it over and glue a string or a piece of yarn near the top backside to be used to hang the ornament onto your package or holiday tree.
Tie your piece of fabric around the neck area to give him a scarf.
